Osmanthus

Spacious and modern room with a shower and bathtub and very clean Laundry service The staff does not speak English No room service Pool ok

We stayed in the Osmanthus hotel at the end of June. Some friends told us about this hotel and they had a decent stay, so we decided to give the place a try. We were satisfied with the room accommodations, although I am a coffee drinker and the hotel only provided in-room teas. Our view from the hotel was not what we had expected. There was a view of the lovely mountains, but it was obscure and mostly hidden. It was definitely not what was pictured in their website. The hotel staff was friendly although they could not speak English. The breakfast was okay and served both Western and of course Chinese selections. The pool was surprisingly decent and was much needed since Guilin in June is terribly uncomfortable with searing temps and horrid humidity. We would stay again if ever in Guilin again as it was centrally located.

We requested for an iron and tea bags on two different occassions and were glared down both times by the front desk staff. They seemed nicer to our tour guide although the answer was still "No". May I add here, we are Indian. And are beginning to miss the Indian hospitality so much more in the middle of our China tour package.
