Universal International Hotel - Nanning

That was my first time at Nanning. I came to Nanning for business trip and I consider to stay at Universal International Hotel for 7 nights. I arrived at this hotel at 7.30 pm and in that time there was no bell boy or any hotel staff that can assist me to carry my luggage. After that I went to the Front Desk and check-in and none of them greet me. Also none of them can speak in English! The reception gave me the room keya and she shown me the room number (because she can't speak in english). I stayed at room 1215 on the 12 Fl with Nanning city view. Room a bit dusty and I found a dead cockroach near the sofa and it really TERRIBLE! Room equipped with King size bed, TV, Sofa, Writing desk, Wardrobe and Wifi. No bathtub, and Mini bar (Refrigerator). Wifi connection sometimes unstable. Breakfast was good. One thing that really annoyed me that none of the hotel's staff can speak in english. So, a bit hard to understand wht they said especially for the foreigner who doesn't speak Mandarin. Hotel located near mall and wet market, theres a lot of shops and street foods.

This hotel was booked by our tour agent in China, as part of a multi-day tour around Guangxi. We stayed a total of 4 nights here. It is not so new now, but still in reasonably well-maintained condition. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Even though I was facing the main road on the ninth floor, I did not hear any disturbing traffic noise. The rooms at the back are even quieter, but I was told by my friends that they could hear some karaoke/music bar sounds at night. So, ask for a higher floor(max is 12th floor). Daily breakfast is included. Sufficient to start your day strongly. The location is very good, with shops all around. There's a supermarket in the same block if you need anything at all, including cheap beers. For people watching or the local flavour, visit the local wet market 200 metres away to the back. You'll see everything the locals buy! Including fresh live seafood.

Stay for 2 nights during China-Asean Expo 2012. The hotel was arranged by tour company during the show. Universal International is standard 4 stars Chinese hotel, as same as 3 stars International standard. The room has decent size, clean, comfortable bed and good water pressure and temperature bathroom. Free internet is +++. Breakfast is terrible like most of Chinese hotel, no surprise.
