Four Points by Sheraton Hainan, Sanya

Honestly, I don't know how the hotel got so many negative reviews, because we had an extremely positive experience staying here. We changed several hotels in Sanya, give or take one level, and this was the first where we were immediately greeted with a smile and took care of our belongings. The settlement went quickly. Took the most budget-friendly room category. The room is spacious, a lot of people wrote about the smell of mold, we didn't feel any of that, everything is clean, furniture, maybe not very new, but everything is neat. The bed is wide, the linen is very pleasant to the touch. Cleaning and 4 bottles of water were provided daily. Anyway, it's great. The hotel is urban, on the first coastline - only the road to the sea (only 5 minutes on foot). The hotel has a dedicated area with swimming pool, we were in November and it was heated (swimming even in the evening to live music 🤓🫶🏿). Rescuers are very nice and friendly. We took accommodation with breakfast and dinner. Very good range both morning and evening, but!! My special love is tuna and salmon sashimi, steaks fried on you from any kind of meat and hot sweat (very interesting experience!!). Food is replenished during the whole meal, everything is super. The hotel has the option to take you to Niangshan for free, but we did not take advantage of this option, too well on the premises. By the way, the location by the hotel is super, nearby shopping malls, infrastructure and from the waterfront is the most beautiful view of Phoenix Island. For your money top 🫰🏻

The worst part is that the room is not cleaned in time, it may not be cleaned at all. Live in room 1026! The food is monotonous. The water's cold in the pool.

Expected more from a well-known network. Clearly, the hotel needs renovation or at least general cleaning. City hotel, convenient location. can walk around, beach across the street, but not equipped with anything at all, not a single deckchair or umbrella there. The hotel has practically no grounds, there is a small sunset with swimming pool and sun loungers. The pools are children's and adult's, they don't smell like chlorine. Immediately, beach towels and inflatable circles are issued. The building itself shows that it has not been renovated since it opened in 2012. There's rusty orange water in the entrance fountain. The facade is dirty, sculpted in places. The lobby is spacious for two floors, and the second floor can be reached by lift or escalator. There's some sort of high-price shop on the ground floor. And not a single couch to wait for a taxi or a transfer somewhere. From the 1st to 5th floors of the common area, from the 6th to 29th floors - rooms with sea or city views. Previously, they wrote about the construction near here, I hasten to report that it is finished, only minor finishing works are being done inside the hotel near here, there is no noise anymore. They arrived at 2am, had to pay 500 yuan extra for early check-in, good thing there were rooms available. We got hit on the 11th floor. The first thing you notice is the dirty old carpet floors in the hallways. Carpets haven't been cleaned since they were built. Rooms are spacious, two wide beds, good mattresses and pillows. A table, a chair, an old couch sitting in a ruck. There's also a TV. There are tiles on the floor. The bathroom has a bathtub and shower with a watering hose and a tropical shower on the ceiling, a large sink and a toilet. The showerhead flows around the perimeter every time it is used. There's a huge lime spot on the countertop of the sink. There is also a ventilation hole in the bathroom, from which the smells of the hotel kitchen penetrate the room in large numbers every day, as well as someone's tobacco smoke, although we wrote in wishes that non-smokers. There is a closet with shoulders, ironing board and iron, also waffle robes, slippers for the room, and spanking for the beach. There are disposable sets of toothpaste brushes, combs, cotton pads and saws. The room has a small refrigerator, kettle, two mugs, tea and coffee bags, and bottled water. Linens on the bed can be intact, or maybe with plastered holes. The biggest problem in the room, apart from the smells, is the hardwood furniture and the sound it makes when it moves on the tile floor. The sound is very loud and nasty. No one lived above us for the first two days, it was quiet. Then hell broke loose. Some lunatic came by who moved the furniture every five minutes, day and night. It was impossible to be in the room. Also, she was at 5:00 a.m. one day walking around in a room with heels on. The hotel staff member at the reception told us when he reached out that he couldn't help. A couple of days later, the problem was raised again, and a female employee offered to move us in, and warned us that this visitor was moving out. Indeed, so the lunatic moved out, the next guest was already moving the furniture less. But there's so much horrible noise from moving furniture I've never heard in any hotel. Why can't you put felt or cork pads on the legs of furniture so you don't have that horrible sound? They're made in China. Why do I have to run and beg the staff to solve the problem and let me sleep?! Room service is tolerable. Cleaning the hallways - no, I had three days of garbage in the elevator hall on the 11th floor in a prominent position, only to clear it after I pointed it out to the cleaner. Morning and evening meals in a large cafe on the second floor. The choice of food is large enough, but at the same time, there is little European food, little food choice for those with HDH problems (i.e. steamed or boiled foods, with little spice). The fish from the window next to the rolls I advise against taking, on the penultimate day before the flight asked to fry tuna from there, ended up poisoning and flying home with nausea. Beef and pork chops are not chopped, stiff as the sole. No spicy food marked. Sometimes it's hard to agree with a chef on how much meat to fry. And if he burns too much, he'll throw away a piece with a sour face in front of you. Coffee's only in the morning, the car gets set up in the evening. Sugar and stirring sticks only stand next to coffee, and in the evening you have to run around the cafe looking for them if you need sugar for tea. The cafe also has a stinky old carpet that no one cleans, crumbs and leftover food lying around. There is no salt/pepper on the tables. In the evening there is beer on taps, but in two weeks no one has been able to pour it properly for themselves, only foam always comes from the taps. The tables are old stone, battered. At least they made new covers on the chairs. The cafe on the 29th floor where we had lunch is quite depressing. The tables are wooden, swollen, cut, painted with inappropriate paint, the armchairs with dirty upholstery and in crumbs of food. On the floor again, dirty carpet, leftover food, containers from delivery. The air conditioners that cool the room contain centuries of dust. The chandeliers have an insect cemetery in them. Food is often cold, soup cups are always dirty, as if they were drawn from a pot. The waitress is smiling, but she doesn't understand anything on the menu, she says "fresh juice", she doesn't know what it is, she has to poke the menu and wait for her to read next to her in Chinese. Waiters need to know the menu, including in English, since that's how you spell it, there aren't many words to learn. The staff is generally friendly, trying to understand, use translators in smartphones. The guards suggest talking to the taxi drivers if they see you running around the hotel with your face confused. Only a couple of employees when they approached tried to get rid of us quickly. It is unlikely that we will return to this hotel, only if after renovation, also the hotel staff needs training in cleaning and keeping clean. Previously visited other countries and hotels, observed much better picture in hotel 3-4 stars. And here, all that's left of the Sheraton/Marriott is the name.
