Sanya Luhuitou Guesthouse & Resort

This hotel was booked on a well-known booking site 1.5 months before the intended trip. Before the trip I asked the hotel questions, answered. Arriving at the hotel at night (about 04-000), the receptionist said that check-in would be later, after 07-00. We sat, waited on the hotel lobby couch. Around 08-00 a hotel employee came up and said that our reservation was gone, allegedly third parties (which?) intervened and we need to contact the reservation service, find a new hotel ourselves and that they will take us there. And it's 30.12.2024!!!!! when virtually all hotels stand on their feet. I showed the staff member that the booking status was “confirmed”, gave them customer service numbers in China. Offered us breakfast while we sorted it out. Contacted the hotel reservation support service themselves, since it is roaming, accordingly unexpected expenses were incurred. The staff of the booking website confirmed that everything is fine, no one cancelled the hotel reservation, promised to contact the hotel themselves. An hour later, a new employee of the hotel came up and said that "overbooking" had happened. When asked what we should do, look for a hotel. They summoned a young man speaking Russian to continue communicating. We were upset, of course, the hotel booking site was already more expensive, we didn't expect to spend much. A visiting interpreter, said that there are no places in this hotel, because a high-ranking official comes and we need to leave this hotel quickly (this is the third version of the lack of hotel places!). Offered to go see another hotel. We had nowhere to go, went with him, looked at the proposed hotel and agreed. Outraged by the situation. Hotel staff are irresponsible, not mandatory, not competent!!! Previously in Turkey we have encountered overbooking, but the staff have already come with a ready-made solution (usually the nearest hotel of better class is offered). We have not received any ready-made proposals here. Trying to say something ridiculous. Do not book this hotel unless you want to ruin your holiday. Hotel Kidalo!

The Luhuitou State Guesthouse and Resort hosted our international subcomittee meeting. The meeting rooms were well prepared, with good remote participant access. The guest rooms were quite comfortable. Nothing wildly special, but no issues either, everything just worked. (The showers were definitely above average in my opinion.) I quite enjoyed the pool, and the staff were very helpful, especially given the language barrier for many of us. The breakfast was interesting to this westerner, with something "edible" (meaning, unusual yet enjoyable) every day during the rotation. Those requiring European or American style breakfasts probably should look elsewhere, although there was a (smallish) selection of western style cereals and dishes. In our experience, dinner was somewhat less satisfactory. Running out of beer after two rounds may have colored our opinion, though. The pleasant experience that we had, definitely contributed to the success of the meeting. Much appreciated.

My wife is Chinese from Guangzhou. We have many times visited this resort, because it is an excellent bang for a buck. Of course our situation is a little bit different than those people here just mostly giving feedback of issues they dont have abilities to understand in Chinese culture. First of all. This is not an American nonsense chain hotel. This is a Chinese state guest house. Breakfast is not designed for westeners, it is a combination mixing Chinese and Westerns breakfast and you must accept that (dont go to China if You think, that Your culture is determinant there) Place, resort pools and restaurants are clean. It is more than obvious that the personnel are not so fluent in English, but they do their best. I think most of "negative" evaluations here are written be people who really do not have any idea of Chinese culture. Learn to respect culture older than yours, ask for service and help politely and you will get it. Warmly suggest. If you manage to get a room from this resort You shall not be disapointed
