Pretty solid three stars. Rooms were spacious, but sparse amenities. The whole hotel was a bit run down and like everywhere in Harbin, full of cigarette smoke. I'll never get used to this. It's not as bad in China as it used to be but for some reason, Harbin hasn't gotten the message yet and people still smoke everywhere inside. The hotel lobby reeks. The restaurant was not great. Breakfast was free with out room, but we only ate there once. Even free it wasn't worth it. The location was okay, although not walking distance to any of the main tourist sites like Central Street (Zhong Yang) or Zhaolin Park or Sophia Cathedral or the rest. But it was on a main street so it was easy to get an car service or taxi. Value helps keep it at three stars.

Very Russian architecture, beautiful paintings and chandeliers in lobby and central atrium. The breakfast was delicious and we particularly enjoyed an egg and omelet station - we hadn't had good eggs since coming to China! Something to be aware of is that some rooms' windows don't face outside, but rather face another wall 6 inches out - very strange. Overall, can't beat for the price.

Hotel is very dark due a central atrium but without a skylight. Typical of Soviet era design. Rooms are in need of repairs. eg. door safety chain disconnected, safety deposit box unattached, etc. Location is near shopping centre but far from tourist attractions. Stay if only if you get a good room rate Breakfast quite good and reception is satisfactory
