Golden Dome International

Our booking here was arranged by local family who had a very difficult time with Hotel staff and would have given up were there any other options at the time. We experienced the same appalling service throughout our stay. Reception is on the 7th floor and were far less than inviting. The usual pantomime of being unable to find our eLong reservation as they had taken in another booking at a higher rate, and only later finding it "under another name" after calling eLong was rather more protracted and unfriendly than usual. The facilities didn't meet their claimed 4 star rating. The air conditioning in our room didn't work, and plainly hadn't for some time as water was dripping from it and running along the ceiling and down the walls where ancient mould was flourishing and paint was peeling throughout the room. Housekeeping was erratic. Sometimes they would make the bed, sometimes take the rubbish, and only once replace the water. The telephone didn't work and trying to get laundry done through the reception desk using the usual hotel laundry bag and carefully filled in form in English and Chinese was met with indifference and refusal to the point that we gave up and found a laundry ourselves. Then they later tried to charge us for the laundry they refused to do. The lifts were intermittently operational and it was usual to have to wait 10mins. This was complicated by the fact that you had to use the lift to reach reception and breakfast part way up the building. Even with a toddler, infant, and pram to carry we had to resort to walking down more than 20 floors of stairs to get out. The general toilet facilities were bizarrely in the worst condition of any public building we visited! I can't understand how this hotel has so many positive reviews and would not return there.
