Qiqihar is my wife's hometown but this is not a place many foreigners will go. As a result, choices for a hotel are very limited. Ibis advertises itself as an International Economy hotel. It is international in that the staff speak enough functional English that you can check in and check out. The lobby is clean but just functional. The room likewise is clean and functional with wired Internet. TV has some Chinese channels, the only English channel is CCTV9. The bathroom can best be described as a pod designed to take a room with no bathroom and provide a functioning bathroom including a small but cramped shower. I stayed at an Ibis in Harbin and the bathroom was the same so I am sure this is standard at most Ibis properties. The entire pod is maybe 3 meter x 3 meter so really only one person can be in it at a time. The bed was hard even by Chinese standards. I ate breakfast at the hotel one morning but it was mediocre at best. I would reccommend the bread and coffee place two stores down from the front of the hotel. If you do not have a Chinese speaker with you, this might be a better choice. If you have a Chinese speaker (e.g. my wife) - I think I would recommend the Home Inn that is nearby and we stayed at previously.

Stayed here several times on business over the last year. Very clean and functional hotel, similar to Ibis in the west. Staff speak some English and very helpful. Breakfast a bit basic but OK. KFC across the road for coffee! Many other local restarants nearby. Low rates include free internet. One french TV channel. Plan to stay here again whenever I am in QQH
