Yueyang Grand Skylight Hotel

Good Hotel to stay. i stayed ONlY for a night in April'14, but was satisfied with the overall appearance of the hotel. The room & bathroom were large enough, with all required facilities and toileteries. i didnt have the chance to eat there, so cant commenct on it, but my acquiantences from Yueyang city say the food is the best in town there. The only thing negative i found was a foul smell in the neighbouring area of the entrance of the hotel (probably due to some fish/meat market, i guess)

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during Easter. Located in downtown pedestrian street with plenty of shops and a huge underground shopping area adjacent to the hotel. Bright and clean room with pleasant decor. Comfortable bed and good rain shower and toiletries. We are happy with the room and front desk service and concierge. However the Chinese restaurant in the hotel is bad. I think this place is mainly for their locals who splurge on company's account. The head waitress was quite condescending and not helpful with our ordering. They don't have a hard copy menu for you to order. We are given an electronic tablet , their local version of Ipad, which makes ordering very very irritating especially if the menu comes with many many pages.. We were flipping with the electronic menu for about 15 minutes and finally gave up. I asked for an English menu, hoping it would be less complicated, instead I was curtly informed that they don't carry one because they never have foreigner before so there was no need for one. We gave up and walked off the restaurant. We both speak and read Chinese. Their western restaurant is just as deserted by 8.30pm. There is a KFC and PizzaHut just outside the hotel and supermarket nearby. Foreigners might have difficulty finding restaurants for their meals as there are not many; mostly food stalls chartering for their locals. People in Yueyang have their dinner very early. By 8.30pm the restaurant is almost empty and staff are ready to call it a day. Taxi fare from high speed rail to hotel about Rmb35. Hotel is close to Yueyang Tower, about Rmb8 by taxi.
