Lakeview Xuanwu

The hotel is conveniently located very close to Xuanwuhu and the metro station Xuanwumen is just outside the hotel. There are a lot of shops and shopping malls around and needless to say never short of restaurants and cafes. Overall the hotel staff were very courteous, except at the breakfast restaurant. The servers at the cooked food stalls seemed to be not care what you want. The room I stayed is facing the lake at the high floor, pretty good view and extremely clean. The decoration was the old style type and may not appeal to the young people. I have tried the Chinese restaurant. It was not bad but the standard was not in particular outstanding. There are a lot of restaurants around and in the city and finding a better one certainly would not be a problem. in one morning I went to have a stroll at the lakeside. It was quite an experience not just because the walkway was very charming, I did witness a lot of people exercised there in different forms, including group dances, quite an experience.

I was extremely disappointed by my staying. The room was tiny, outdated and untidy. The carpet was filthy. To my horror, I found a used cup and some leftover items from previous guests in my room. Small refrigerator in my room was so dirty that it was moldy. The staff was friendly but not as well-trained as the similar ranked hotels. The only good thing about the hotel is the location.

I stayed a night for business. The hotel provides a basic service but less than my expectation. Pillows are very soft. *Reception Cons: Slow procedures, few chairs at lobby *Room Cons: Arid, Ashtray in non-smoking room *Bathroom Pros: Enough towels *Location Pros: Great location to walk around, access to Xuanwu Lake. *Other Cons: Strong smell on the corridor at 11th floor.
