This was my second trip to Suzhou. This like the first was an extremely pleasant experience. The room was clean and comfortable. The TV allowed a connection to my iPad which helped to pass the time. Jean was particularly helpful.

On our fifth trip to China in Nov. 2011, we went to another part that we had not seen. This being one of the easiest and shortest distances of all. We went to Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, Tongi to name a veiw cities. I Transportation was great and easy. We were able to use the fast train which was a neat experience as well as rickshaws, buses, taxis. We have never stayed in a bad hotel in all our trips, so our expectations are always good. This time we had the pleasure to stay in the Pan Pacific Hotel and Resort in Suzhou. The rooms, amenities, service were wonderful. Every window you look out has a beautiful view. The location was great so we did a lot of walking. We were given a tour of the hotel by the restuarant manager, Mr. Paul, which proved to be very interesting and informative. The concierge was extremely helpful in helping us in many ways. Connected to the hotel grounds is a very large, beautiful park/gardens which as a hotel guest you can enter from the hotel and it's free. Suzhou is a very interesting city with lots to do and see. Lots of history and beautiful gardens and waterways where you can take boat rides, etc. Staying in this hotel is a real treat.

Stayed here on business last October. Given we were a group, check in was a bit lengthy (and i was jet lagged). The room appeared to be OK, with nice Chinese decorations. But upon further investigation, the carpet was dirty, the bathroom barely cleaned, and the bed....it was rock hard, with overstuffed pillow...unsleepable. The restaurant served us some fair to rather bizarre food (BBQ aigrette, anyone). No gym. The surroundings were nice (apart from the view from the room), walking distance from main drag with lots of bars for "lonely travellers". Free Wi-fi included, but lots of censored sites!
