Huitong Jiangguo Hotel

We arrived very late and the checkin was quick. No one speaks English in the hotel. The staff was friendly and gave us good tip where to find a place to have couple of drinks and some food at midnight. The breakfast was not that good and we decided to have lunch in another hotel across the street.

We booked two nights here, and checked out after the first night to find alternate accommodation. Housekeeping knocked on our door at 6:30 am in the morning to check for room cleaning...absurd!! The room was poor, old, stains everywhere, and the tub water spigots did not even work. Given the size of most hotel rooms in Xining, this room was somewhat larger, we felt the price did not come close to the quality of the room. The only positives for our room was that it had several good English tv channels, a porch, and the front desk didn't try to keep our money for the second night. The location might be good for those travelers wanting to be in the city, by the train station, but we had a car, so the location wasn't a priority. We found much better accommodation in Xining, for much cheaper price, and would not recommend this hotel.

Standard Chinese business hotel. Clean rooms, grubby carpets, rock hard beds, nice staff, so/so breakfast buffet, no gym. Location is near the bus station in a very dull neighborhood. Not walking distance from central Xining. Maybe a reasonable deal, but I'll stay elsewhere next time.
