The Good: The staff are very professional. Quite quick to assist. Pleasant. One star is for the staff. The Bad: This hotel is in need of an overhaul. It is obvious it was once a classy sort of place. But now the carpets are dirty. The curtains are down. The air conditioner doesn't work. The entry to the hotel immediately tells you this building is past its prime. It just looks...sad. One elevator wasn't working so there is always a wait for elevators. The elevators are very warm. The first room I was placed in was unfit for guests. The bathroom was appalling. The carpet shabby and the room stank with cigarette smoke. Because of that I felt the only safe surfaces were the wood furniture. I called to complain and they sent someone (very quickly) to clean the bathroom. This was just not good enough. I insisted on a new room and was presented with one that was much better. The carpet was cleaner. No cigarette smell. The bathroom was clean. No problems with water flow. The air conditioner failed on the second night, but before I even complained they sent staff with a fan. My room faced the city wall so the view was good. The bed was comfortable. I could see that the other upholstered furniture had not been cleaned in a while. Some electrical outlets did not work. The wifi was so weak that it is unusable. For those who use the television, there are no English-speaking channels. Dinner is on the 5th floor. Breakfast buffet on the 4th. Both are Chinese menus. Cooking is fair. In the end: The hotel needs renovating. The staff is excellent. But I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone since the rooms can be hit or miss and the fittings are dirty. I did not feel comfortable here.

I have used Trip Advisor on many occasions and am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED that this hotel has a 4 star rating. The hotel was NASTY. I'm certain that the carpet in the room had never been cleaned. The furniture and doors are peeling old paint. They do not turn on the air conditioning, so it is hot, unless you open the windows. But, if you open the windows, you can't sleep because of the noise. They have a sparse breakfast, in a small, crowded room. Don't expect anything Western. There will not even be coffee, instant or otherwise. The bathrooms have one light over the sink. I am convinced that this is so you cannot see how nasty the shower is. I have never written a review to this extent, but I want to let everyone know that you should NEVER, NEVER stay at this hotel!

Free wifi in the room. The aircond was not cool. No halal breakfast so we only ate fruits, boiled eggs, boiled sweet potatoes, starchy corn so what to do, tapau... All tv channels are Chinese except for TV5 Singapore .
