Skytel Hotel Xian

The room light were dim as well as the bathroom. need to open bathroom door when shower as the light inside was too dim and scary. Aircon was not cold even after we called for service. The most scary part was the corridor leading to the room were dark (darker than the room and bathroom) and create creepy environment if you're walking alone. Luckily our room was near to the lift lobby. The beds were super hard too. The location is not bad as it is walking distance to the city wall. But also noted there are other better accom near to the bell tower, shopping centre and muslim quarter when you are in the city centre. Probably staying outside city wall is also a not bad choice (accom are newer compared to those located inside city wall) as you can still reach all the bell tower and shopping centre via subway and they were almost the same price.

We have just checked out early from this hotel because of the awful condition of the room. The staff didn’t offer any form of apology as we google translate explained why we were leaving early. On arrival, the room door was jammed and wouldn’t open, it was then difficult to close- this happened every time we tried to enter and exit the door. The bathroom was dirty and appeared it hadn’t been cleaned properly. There was residue of cleaning product splashed in the glass sink, black hairs on wall of the shower and the floor of the shower was left so slippery that I slipped over upon getting in and hurt myself. The lighting system they use is temperamental and hard to make work. The mirror in the bathroom had something behind it and was radiating so much heat you could feel it on your face just standing in front of it, to touch it was burning hot. We asked reception was this a potential problem and they said it was nothing and they would wipe over the filthy sink. The bed was harder than sleeping on the floor. I never complain about hotels and regularly travel the world, and this was the most disappointing hotel room I have had and would have appreciated the offer of a room change to a clean room or an apology when we said we were leaving. All they said back via google translate was even though you are checking out you have to pay for the extra night. We didn’t care about the money we had paid but it definitely ruined a night of our holiday.

We stayed in the standard rooms on the 6th floor. The room size was adequate with 2 single beds. The bathroom was odd, a shower cubical with a seperate toilet where a single door was used for both meaning that you could close the shower door or the toilet door but not both, no real privacy unless you dried off and dressed in the shower cubicle. No hot water one evening. The beds were very comfortable, kettle and fridge are provided. Aircon worked ok as did the wifi. The staff on reception have little English but arranged an airport transfer for me, this costed 180rmb feel I may have been over charged for this? The location of the hotel is excellent, close to the south gate of the walls and within walking distance of the drum and bell towers and the Muslim quarter.
