Jinan Zhuo Rui Hotel

As the other reviewer said, the hotel at first looks fancy in a Chinese, ornate way. So it seems like they're really trying to look good with big carved wooden chairs in the lobby, marble floored shower stalls and bathroom areas. But the old carpets are still here and a lot of the furnishings need a good clean if not replacement. The staff speaks almost no English so I'll have no assistance. Not sure how I'll communicate with the taxi driver who'll have to take me to my next hotel. The TV was hard to work since I can't read Chinese. I don't think there are any international channels available. The breakfast is very Chinese, i.e. vegetables, dim sum, porridge and fruit. You can fill up though know that this isn't the most flavorful food you can get for breakfast. There are two Starbucks within a 20 minute walk. One's at J-Plaza and the other's at Wanda Plaza. If you speak Chinese, the service may be fine. They just aren't set up for international guests, hence the low rating.

I had to stay here because of work. At first glance, it looks like a nice hotel but as you stay here you notice the the dirty room carpet, counters. We found mold under the marble stool in the shower. Breakfast included cold bacon and sausages and hot orange juice. Also the bacon and sausage "piles" got smaller as the week progressed. We were on the non-smoking floor and when we asked about the people in the next room smoking, they moved us! Check out was complicated. I tried to pay for the room in the morning and asked for my wife and kids to keep using the room until after lunch but was not allowed. At check out time, as I was running late, they asked my wife to forged my signature, demanded 100RMB deposit for the key I had. Not a good experience, even for China
