I stayed here for a week for business. Worst business stay ever. I would have changed hotels upon check-in, but did not want to embarrass my host organization. The most FILTHY hotel I have ever had the displeasure of staying at. No ice in the whole hotel, no A/C and was lied to three times that it was “under maintenance” until one of my local hosts told me they asked and were told they turn it off starting in October. Could never get the TV to the English station even after calling maintenance . I had to sleep with the windows open breathing all the smog since it was so hot. I even had to keep my door open most of the time for air. I should have taken pictures of the bathroom. There is not a positive thing to report. The staff for the most part were friendly, but some were very rude. The ledge you see is where a mother pulled down her toddlers pants for her to urinate 2 feet from where I was sitting on the ledge, which in the other picture you can see I was right by the door.

Ask for Suite 305, the Zen Suite, decorated by a company called Zen Living, promoting their products. Very Zen, very beautiful. Zen means simple but it can also be beautiful and comfortable, like this place. I didn't want to leave. In addition to regular pillows, there was one huge pillow, that I loved. The towels were thick, white, clean, plush, beauties. The sofa, chairs, writing table, all suited the decor. There are lots of good restaurants nearby and a pub with live entertainment next door. Jinan is one of the cleanest cities on the planet and the people are famously friendly. The Zen Suite, one day after the national holiday, during Golden Week, was just 539 yuan or about 100 dollars CDN, expensive by the standards of Chinese hotels but a great bargain by Canadian standards. In Canada you would pay around 500 dollars for the Zen Suite, but I never saw a suite so Zen in Canada.

Stayed here while at a hospital conference across the street. The only positive was convenience. The rooms and hallways are worn. My room air conditioning wasn’t working no was sweating. The housekeeper brought up a fan. There was no refrigerator in the room. The bathroom was very old and the door to the shower was worn. Water from the shower closed the bathroom floor. The beds were like sleeping on a board. It was not a good experience. I do not recommend this hotel. It requires a major renovation!!
