Haitian Theater Hotel - Tsingtao

The rooms are quite small, but clean and nicely furnished. It's a bit difficult to log in into wifi. As a foreigner you need the staff to log you in, because you need a chinese phone number (or chinese Wechat account). Our room had no view unfortunately... The halls are not heated.

We stayed here as we were going to a show at the Grand Theatre. The hotel is rather average and ho-hum. Surprisingly looking a bit run down. The rooms are small but adequate. We stayed here as we had come to watch a show in the Grand Theatre (it is in the same building). I would not choose to stay here on holiday, or for longer than one night. Breakfast was somewhat lackluster although a bonus was you got to enjoy it with the performers, something our kids oved.

This is rated as a 5 star hotel. Apparently the Chinese have a different rating system, because, based on my experience, it's nowhere close. That being said, it is quite nice, clean, and service is excellent. Rooms are average when compared to the average hotel in the U.S. and the beds (seems to be a Chinese thing) are very firm. I was there to play a concert in the attached Grand Theater which is a beautiful hall with great acoustics and seating for 1200. So, I can highly recommend attending shows or concerts in the Grand Theater, and, if you are staying overnight, the Hai Tian Hotel is a great choice.
