Santiago

A terrible stay at the Santiago Hotel. Our booking was 'lost' according to the reception staff. After much deliberation we were given a room, but this room was either another guests or it hadn't been cleaned. We were given another room key but unable to unlock the door. The receptionist refused to come up to the room to open the door for us, a kind guest helped us out and said she also had trouble with her key. The room was perfectly described by the previous reviewer - we had no toilet paper or tissues, the windows didn't close properly, holes in the walls and the beds were absolutely horrendous (hard as diamonds). I still have a sore neck 4 weeks later. We didn't even bother with the breakfast after reading other reviews, the restaurant looked filthy anyway. A complete waste of our time and money at this hotel with rude reception staff to top it off.

My booking was done by my Chinese agent in Qingdao who thought the the hotel would be ideal for a business traveller from Australia given its prime location. The hotel is falling to bits with no evidence of any maintenance. The agent booked and paid for a beach facing room but the room was not available. After much argument a side room was allocated. The room was a disgrace. Half the curtains were falling of the slides, the TV power point was devoid of electricity, all the fittings were falling off or wobbled, including taps and towel racks. The cupboard doors did not close properly, the beds were harder than diamond and the water pressure from the shower was so poor that one got wet and dried simultaneously. The airconditioning did work, could not try the TV. Was not game to try the breakfast service. The front office staff had the audacity to take a 200RMB security deposit, heaven only knows why as it would be impossible to trash the room any further. I could not leave early enough. Only for the brave or foolish as the room price trades only on location. A rip-off. Minus 10 star rating.

the hoel santiago is not good the lobby looks like old hospital wiht fake marble walls and floor, the elvetor floor cover is broken ( and i think for long time ) the room is nice size but the carpet is old and dirty the beds are very hard like a rock , the outside the hotel is in very poor condition the breakfast is terrible just few vegetable and rice soup no tea or coffe, my booking was to stay there 5 nights but i stay there only 1 night think twice before booking at this hotel
