Holiday Inn Express Jinsha

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Shanghai Jinsha for 5 days again, and it was an exceptional experience. The breakfast was plentiful, offering both American-style options and a wide variety of Chinese breakfast choices. Ms. Zhang and all the restaurant staff provided outstanding service every day. The rooms were impeccably clean and serviced on time each day. I’ve stayed on the 8th, 10th, and 11th floors, and I am grateful for their hard work. Ms. Lu always provided excellent service. During my stay, Shanghai experienced some rain, and the front desk staff kindly offered us umbrellas. The manager, Mr. Song, helped with my reservation and made the check-in and check-out process very smooth. Every day here felt as comfortable as being at home. I plan to return with my family in ten months.

I spent about a week here here during a business trip and it's one the better performing Holiday Inn Express properties in Shanghai. The staff is the star here! The hotel is located short distance north of Hongqiao airport and situated above a subway station. Accessing the subway and public transportation couldn't be easier. The subway station is also a shopping center, so there are several restaurant options as well as a supermarket. There are more eateries 5 min walk to the next big street. The guestroom is clean and comfortable. I really respected the housekeeping lady with how hard she worked. The room was acting as my office during my stay, so I was in the hotel when housekeeping made their rounds. Watching her cleaning and touching up the guestroom in an alarmingly fast speed yet in perfect order is just very impressive. She picked up the subtle details that I drink green tea instead of black tea, so she stocked more green tea for me. I think we should all pause for a second that appreciate these staff on how they make our stay experience possible. The breakfast staff is equally welcoming. She chat up with every guest and often checked in to make sure we had enough to eat. She recognizes a few longer stay guest and would tell us to try new rotating dishes that weren't available in prior mornings. All in all, the staff at this hotel is awesome and they made me feel very welcomed and appreciated as a IHG top elite member.

This is definitely not the best choice in regards to service and cleanliness. The walls were covered with dead bugs or mold or both? Dust covered many parts of the room and the bathroom. Hallways smelled like smoke and alcohol. Smoke smell crept into the room at night. I've been to several non-smoking hotels in China. This was the worst. Check in was slow and stressful because even though I made a reservation thru IHG reservation hotline directly and paid fully, they couldn't find the record of payment. So the check in process took half an hour. It wasn't even thru trip.com where some people have this kind of problem. Breakfast wasn't bad. But overall it seems to be a pretty poorly managed hotel.
