Hua Jun Suite

Looking for hotels at Tripadvisor I was shown the Embassy Suite in Shanghai and was sent to Agoda to get the good value rest in Embassy Suite. I had to prepay and on landing on the doorsteps of that hotel I started getting scared. Fear that Agoda tricked me. Only to find that the hotel owners use the name to lure unsuspecting foreigners. The hotel stinks, the staff are helpful and speak English but Embassy Suite it is not. Avoid it. The floors in the room squeak the bathroom is nothing to make you to get in to wash in fear you get dirty. I have paid but left to stay elsewhere with no tricks in the name.

One of my Chinese associate booked me in this hotel the first time some 8 years ago and since then i have always been staying here. This is a very basic 4 star hotel which provides all the essentials for a smooth business trip. Large neat, clean and well appointed rooms Free Internet Quick edible breakfast Quick Check In & Check Out (poor english at reception tough) Close to where i want to be in Shanghai Close to some decent shopping malls The rooms look a little old since i first visited but they are neat and clean. I understand Shanghai is not so expensive for hotels, but for $70 odd, you cant ask for more. Will not recommend for holiday makers. Be careful of the doorman if booking cabs for long rides. He always wants to get a cut from the cabbie.

Unlike some reviews, I had a great room that was very large. It felt like an entire apartment with a full-size kitchen with sink, refrigerator, counters, table, and chairs that I never used. Then there was a living room/office work area, the large bedroom, and a closet and bathroom off of the bedroom. English is somewhat limited and they do call it Embassy Suite to make you think it's something it's not (no S = not a Hilton property). I would stay here again without question as the hotel has an excellent location and was very nice. Breakfast was very good.
