Rayfont Hongqiao Hotel & Apartment Shanghai

Good hotel/serviced apartments for extended stay. I stayed in a suite, lots of space, washing machine, bathtub, walk-in closet, kitchenette. Bathroom could use an upgrade (shower curtain(!), long distance from towel rack to tub). Water pressure was phenomenal. Two TVs, but none with non-Chinese international channels. Super clean, gets cleaned every other day. Breakfast was varied and good, but not obscenely so. Small gym, free weights and two treads. Location is right next to Yan'an highway, but higher up rooms are ok. 10 minute walk into the concession, but a bit far to the metro (20 min). Great view from 33rd. Internet was varied, in many spots it did not work, unforgivable for a biz hotel really. Nice big bed. Importantly, in winter you can set your own room temp, up to 30C. Many hotels throttle the heat at 19C.

The location is far from metro/subway. This service apartment is mainly for domestic customers. The place is very close to highway so it is quite noisy (suggest bring earbuds). Staffs are not well trained, the house keeping lady knocked door although I put “not disturb “ sign outside every time. Not recommended to stay.

We managed to get quite a cheap 'deluxe suite' which was huge - 84sq metres. However, the staff (with the exception of the maid) were not particularly polite, the wifi (while free) was incredibly slow, toilet paper was very cheap and thin, the furniture was old/dirty and the kitchen area came with no cooking/eating equipment. I was told I could hire chopsticks for 13yuan! About 15 min walk from metro station. Overall would not recommend - there are nicer hotels in Shanghai for similar prices if you book early.
