Stayed in this hotel for some business trips several times. The hotel had newly-renovated rooms although a bit run-down on the outside. The surrounding areas are busy with small stores selling clothes, accessories and shoes...and more shoes. There are 2 Chinese Restaurants attached to the Hotel. The one on the Second Floor doubles as the Breakfast Lounge and Seafood Restaurant, day and night. There is a Pizza Hut in the Lobby and a small Cafe. A Watson's store and a 24-Hour Yonghe Noodle King accross the road. Trust-mart Tianlin is 5-10 minutes away from the hotel with a Mcdonald's on the Ground Floor.
The rooms are big enough for 2 people and cable internet is provided free-of-charge although a bit slow at times. The bathroom is nice and clean for me since I am a bit finicky for toilets, so this hotel is good enough for me. If you want to go to the City Center, the nearest Shanghai Subway station is 10-15 minutes walk to the right of Gui Lin Rd, and you can enjoy that Bakery owned by a foreigner near the station. The Breakfast Buffet is nothing special but they have more dishes than the usual local hotels I've stayed before.
The front desk people hardly spoke English and they seem to be spooked of the presence of foreigners in their hotel. So they probably cater more to the local traveler, I get it. If you speak Mandarin, it will be a great help or bring a local with you at least.
