Central

It is located next to Nanjing Road (central area) so great for walking access. We got in in the evening from 14 hours of travelling so had a poor experience upon arrival as they wanted a USD500 deposit for the room that was already paid for and covered under a trip, took a bit to get around this, on top of that they wanted to change our rooms mid-stay. After this initial hiccup the reminder of the stay was wonderful, comfortable beds, clean room, great breakfast and good hotel ammenities. the downstairs bar lacked snack options and the staff not great at bar work, had to insist on a new bottle of wine to be opened when original one was off (common theme in China). Room was quiet with windows shut but noisy of open.

Overall, a pleasant stay at Central Hotel Shanghai. We stayed 3 nights in March. 7 minutes walk from Nanjing East Metro Station and just a short road away from Nanjing East Pedestrian Walk. Also walkable to The Bund and People's Square. Hotel compound was big. We stayed at the top floor, room 2706 with partial view of Oriental Pearl Tower. Room was clean and spacious and pillows were very comfortable! Additional amenities requested from housekeeping were delivered to the room by Robot. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary birthday cake when we returned to our room at night. We appreciate that this was totally the hotel's initiative as we did not communicate that one of our birthday falls during the period of our stay at the hotel.

Fabulous hotel. Upgraded to a quiet suite on the 14th floor. Bed was so comfy. Bathroom was fantastic with bath and separate shower. Location of this hotel is great, near the Nanjing Road pedestrian street and walking distance to the Bund. Would stay here again.
