The Guxiang Hotel has been converted into a Holiday Inn. The location is very good. It is close to the Nanjing East Road Pedestrian Street. It is very convenient for eating and drinking. There is a food court on the Nanjing Du Road Pedestrian Street nearby. There are many kinds of food on the 2F. There are Indian pancakes, grilled skewers, fried skewers, spicy hotpot, and there are many choices. , Lai Lai Xiaolong is super delicious and there is also a big pot of spring fried pancakes. Taking a taxi to Hongqiao Airport is about RMB80. The subway is located between People’s Square and Nanjing East Road Station. It is convenient to go everywhere. There is no PUB anymore. The ancient elephant hotel has been renovated. The 1st to 2nd floors, 12th to 24th floors are Holiday Inn, the 6th to 11th floors are Elong Hotel, and the 3rd to 5th floors are Guxiangshanli Hotel. The Holiday Inn has become novel and bright. I will stay there next time.

This is a very nice hotel situated near the Bund, three blocks from the Metro and across the street from great shopping. The rooms had an old world atmosphere and were absolutely spotless. Our maid, Ada Huang, was extremely helpful and professional. She kept our room spotless and well stocked. The front desk people were very friendly and courteous. The breakfast buffet was varied and included a fresh wonton soup and omelets made to order. There was fresh fruit and juices, sushi, steamed buns, numerous wok fried vegies and noodle dishes. The only complaint is that the pastries were held over for up to 3 days and were less than perfect on the third day. The staff however were quite attentive, helpful and friendly. Would definitely come back.

Stayed in this hotel for one night. Knowing this is a Howard Johnson hotel, I did not expect much before I checked in. But when I stepped into the lobby, I was so astonished by its grandiose atmosphere, everything there looked so luxurious. I had been upgraded to a suite, the bedroom and washroom were both so spacious, and a great view facing Nanjing Rd, the famous Shanghai pedestrian Street. I did not try the hotel restaurant or order any room service. But I tried the swimming pool which is not very large. When we went there, I saw only one little girl was inside the pool, and the lifeguard was teaching her how to swim. The lifeguard told me the girl is a daughter of her boss. Sounded a little odd, like she was doing two jobs at same time. I know most hotel swimming pools and saunas are rented to independent third parties in China, so I believe the lifeguard is not even a hotel employee.
