Shanghai Ketangjian Boutique Hotel

This is a very beautiful hotel, the rooms are fantastic, well set out and decorated and very aesthetically appealing. Cleaning is top quality. The staff speak little English so often hard to communicate. Breakfast was good, more Chinese food then western but still options available. It’s in the French concession which means it’s close to two metro stops and some lovely parks and restaurants. However there was constant noise coming from the side street into the wee hours.

This small hotel is held in the french colonial style and decorated with exceptional care for details, something I don't often see executed this lovingly in China. The bathrooms are clean and modern, the furniture pieces are often real antiques and the staff is courteous and thoughtful. It is located right near Fuxing Road, where you will find a lot of tree-ligned alleys, bars and cafes, a starbucks and convenience stores. For those not local to Shanghai I'd recommend this area as it's easily the most beautiful and desirable part for foreigners to live in, whereas the Bund is a one-time touristy thing.

My favorite among the hotels I visited during my last China tour, it's very close to Shanghai Symphony and also to a nice movida street. My room was pretty small but really cozy, easy elegant but charming. Very nice bathroom with old fashion bathtub, excellent soap&body facilities, very comfortable bed and perfect silence night and daytime. The wifi didn't work in my room, so I had to use my own router to get the internet (this is the only negative note). I don't know about the prices, I was a guest. In the end, enjoyed it very much, recommended place.
