Shanghai Pacific Luck

I stayed one night at the Hotel Pravo. The suite was large: sitting room with TV, bedroom and a very large bathroom with both a tub and shower and one of those Star Wars WCs with a heated seat. The room was clean and functional. After 23 hours traveling I just passed out. Sunday morning breakfast was an experience. This is not a western hotel. The buffet has an Asian slant and they don’t make to order. The staff’s pleasant but speak only limited English. They have WiFi but I could not access (the desk staff couldn’t provide a password). The location was good. It’s a ten minute walk to the river and Bund.

Large rooms equipped with a comfortable bed plus a safe, iron and kettle.. Same day laundry service was good. Breakfast was mostly western and reasonable quality but cost extra. You only got two small bottles of water but there were plenty of small shops nearby to get supplies.. Bar was OK but closed early at 10pm. The north sichuan metro station is just 10-15 minutes walk and you can comfortably walk to the Bund in less about 20 minutes..

The is a very seedy and grimey hotel. The first impression is the smell of cigarettes and unhelpful staff. The carpet in the hallway has stains, smells and so does the room itself. the room we had did not look like what we were expecting. A/C didn't work at all and itwas 25°C the entire time. The only good thing about this hotel is that the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious, but it is hard to get past the stained appearance and the heavy cigarette smoke. I would encourage anyone to go elsewhere unless you don't mind the grime, exposed wiring and seeing the staff sleeping in the lobby early in the morning. Yes, I got up at 6am and went down stairs and the staff that check us in were asleep on the couches in the lobby. The wifi doeant even work well. Spend a little more money and it will be worth it at a better hotel.
