Yitel Hotel Shanghai Pudong Airport Chuansha Branch

Stayed for one night since we had very early morning flight from Pudong international airport Clean and well maintained hotel. Also provide airport shuttle which we didn’t use since the earliest was 7 o’clock too late for us.

Nobody speaks other languages than Chinese at the hotel. so you have to go down to ask for something with your hands and signs because from your room phone, you have to speak Chinese The rooms are clean. Tight Air conditioning didn't t work very well. The control buttons are in Chinese only. Very far from Shanghai central. You need to take the train. It is about 20-30 min walk to the station. Then it takes about 1 hour to get downtown. Train ride cost: $1. It is Line 2 straight to downtown. There are a McDonalds and KFC at about 15 min walk at the corner of Xinchuan rd and Chuansha rd. The Bank of China is at that corner as well if you need to take out money with your foreign bank card. People in the area are very nice. I recommend taking a stroll at the Chuansha park at about 10-15 min walk. Very peaceful. There is a pound in the middle of it. There is some street BBQ at night at the corner street and down Beishi street. For a grilled chicken noodle meal it cost me 14 rmb. There are restaurants with dumpling servings down the road of Beishi. The taxi cost the equivalent of 10$ from the airport. It was a 10 min ride.

I booked this hotel for an overnight stay after leaving the pudong airport. I arrived around 12am and was able to book my room quickly. I was even able to at the hotel using my alipay app. The staff was very friendly, and even had a bellhop. My room was updated and was very nice. However the a/c was broken! I called the front desk and I was upgraded to a nicer room. The bed was very big and confortable. I had an early breakfast which had typical chinese breakfast items and some western ones too, such as toast with jam and butter, oj, eggs, cereal etc. Overall happy with my stay.
