Shanghai Starway Shangfu Hotel (Nanjing Road Pedestrian)

This hotel was not great. My biggest issue was they entered my room when my do not disturb sign was on! I felt very violated and that it was very inappropriate of them. While I’m not sure anything went missing, my things were touched and moved, which again was inappropriate especially when I’m traveling abroad

This was the worst hotel ever. The staff were extremely unhelpful and not friendly. The towels were wet, the AC did not work, and there was a hole in the bathroom door. The shower leaked, the bathroom tub was covered in rust and mould, and there was no windows in the room. We had to switch out of our first room because it smelled like insecticide and the toilet did not work. Overall, would definitely not recommend.

This is a think carefully hotel. Its location is its biggest asset but here it goes downhill fast. I cant recommend it but everyone needs to make a choice. The photo you see is the front rooms above shops, the actual entrance is tiny and located in a side street. From here you need to climb a steep set of stairs to access a tiny lift to your floor. We did not see any amenities here nor anyone speaking english. Rooms are quite big and has reverse aircon which was great as temp at night for us was 5c outside. Room service is a minimum, towels changed new water and toilet paper, that is it. Our beds werent made nor floor swept. No fridge either. This a Budget Hotel at best. Food outside was quite plentiful with a food hall next door, confusing to use but cheap. In Nanjing rd and side streets there where many other things to eat. Needs a lot of work / renovations in most areas. As for location it gets top marks, close to underground train, Nanjing rd is a shopping mecca and not too far from the Bund as well.
