Xing Hua

I spent four nights in this hotel while on business in Shanghai, it had a good location for all our activities. The room that I had was high enough (11th floor) to not have any road noise and my view from the front of the hotel over looked the large Radisson Blu park-like complex. The room was very clean and up to-date, with the usual 65 channel - one English channel TV, I did not spend much time in my room...only to catch up on email and sleep. Two of my traveling companions had complaints, one had very spotty Wifi and needed to go to the lobby to get email, the other was awakened by construction of a new building on the back side of the hotel each morning a 5 AM. At least one of the front desk staff each day could speak and understand English, it was very useful when a driver showed up at 5:30 AM to take me to the airport, he did not speak English so we needed to confirm that it was me who he was to take me to the right airport (Hongqiao - only 20 minuets away). Breakfast is served on the third floor and it was ok, however the strips they called bacon had a very gamey taste. The egg cook the first day would cook up three fried eggs at a time, but the next two mornings (had to leave before bfast last day) would only cook one egg at a time, so yes if you wanted two eggs you need to wait for the time-delay cook. We had two meals catered to our group (mostly hosts) of about twenty on two evenings. The meals were great, our hosts made sure we got one of the local favourites, Shanghai Hairy Crab...go for the male version they are great. Since my hosts paid for the hotel I do not know the price, IMO it was likely reasonable price for the impression it made. I would highly recommend this hotel.

good price and location. room is old (rusty bathroom), but clean enough. wifi is unstable in the room, bad connection sometimes. poor service - I wanted to extend my stay and keep the same room, but was told i could not do it at the front desk and I had to book via the original booking site and change the room the next day.

i stayed this hotel for 5 nights in April 2014. The GYM did not open, but listed. So i used its stairway to do my work-out. climbing stair and I was found out by its security guy and i was told that i was not allowed to use its stairway. OK. One day, breakfast, i had few siblings together, we wanted to combine two tables together, then we were told it was not allowed to do so. One lunch, it was raining outside, so we decided to have a lunch at the hotel. We knew they open until 1PM, went there, we were told it was too late. We said what? It is 11:30AM.... The WIFI so bad, so complicated to setup and i gave it up for wireless and had to use plug-in cable to get my internet. Come on! Why not make things simple for your customers?! This is not a customer oriented hotel and they do not care about their customers period! But i do appreciate the Lady house keeper who told me she has been working in the hotel for more than 10 years. She is very good-5 Star customer service person!
