Chengdu Tian Zhi Dao Hotel

The carpets have not been vacumed in weeks. Flecks of dirt all over. Toilet had dirt and there was strange smell. Not pleasant. China is known for people who can't use a bathroom. But it can be cleaned up before the next guestz arrive. Really bad.there was mold in the shower cubicle. Never cleaned. When you have shower the water collects on the floor and the whole place gets wet Room 712

We're spending a holiday in Chongqing right now. Booked this hotel for a panda base day for one night since it was one of the very few hotels in Chengdu with family room for four persons and it was close (1,5km) from subway. And wifi and breakfast were included. Two double rooms would have been 42€ but we took the 51€ family room anyway. The room wasn't cleaned when we arrived at 15.45 but they were superfast when they noticed their mistake. So no bad feelings about that. First of all, always have the hotel name and address in chinese for the taxi driver. I had a google map of the location which clearly wasn't enough. But thanks to myself I had a translator which translates english or pinyin into chinese in my phone so we finally got there. Tianzhidao seems to mean "heaven knows"... Ok, this place is clearly out of date. Wallpapers are dirty and broken from places, the fitted carpet is kind of yucky, smell of cigarette smoke is everywhere and you don't want to sit in the bath tub! You can hear noise from the hallway. Breakfast was totally chinese. Hot spicy salad, noodles and strange buns and no water or juice at all. Only warm milk. But if you can live with that go for it! But hey the good stuff! It could be a lot worse in China as far as I know. The room was air conditioned and there was warm water in shower. Water boiler and the freezer worked also. Not far from centre, 1,5km to subway and two stops. And about 14km to panda base, about 30min and about 40 yan taxi drive at 8am. Would I recommend for one night? Yes! For a long stay? No way! This place is supposed to be 3,5 or 4* but I would give it 2*. But, for our cause 3*.
