CROWNE PLAZA CHENGDU

We much enjoyed our recent stay of several nights at the Crowne Plaza Centre City Chengdu. As platinum IHG members we were upgrade to a one bedroom suite; it had a very nice living room with tv etc plus a good sized bedroom, 2 bathrooms, one with a bath tub, etc. The rooms are not the most modern but nonetheless comfortable & well appointed. Location of the hotel is great, in the central city near lots of great shopping and restaurants. Breakfast buffet is copious though not amazing for my tastes. We took advantage of our lounge privilèges and went to the 21st floor each night for wine/cocktails/beer and small snacks. I’d return here on my next visit to the fabulous city of Chengdu!

As a Platinum member, my room was upgraded to a 1 bedroom and that was highly appreciated by me. Although the hotel is old but the rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, offering a comfortable and relaxing environment after a long day out. The bed was especially comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The hotel’s location is excellent—right in the heart of the city, with easy access to shopping areas, restaurants, and major attractions, making it incredibly convenient for both leisure and business travellers. It's quite close to Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li, just use the overhead bridge outside the hotel which was very convenient. The front office and concierge team delivers outstanding customer service, consistently going the extra mile to assist with every need. There is also a fruit outlet and a convenience store at the lobby. There were, however, a couple of issues during my stay, particularly with housekeeping and the café: Housekeeping: The service lacked consistency and clear standard procedures. Basic items were often overlooked, including the proper replenishment of mineral water, which became quite inconvenient. Café: During breakfast one morning, a dish labelled as Singapore Bak Kut Teh was served, but unfortunately, it did not resemble the authentic taste at all. I suggested to the staff that the chef reconsider using “Singapore” in the name, as it may be misleading. Chef Jim did apologize for that and said he would do his best to improvise on the recipe. On another evening, after returning tired from Chongqing and feeling unwell, I went to the café for an early dinner. Despite there being only two occupied tables, I waited about 10 minutes before being informed that my order would take even longer due to those tables. Given the limited menu and the relatively quiet setting, the delay was unexpected and disappointing, especially under the circumstances. Overall, this hotel stands out for its exceptional customer service. Every staff member I encountered was attentive, considerate, and always ready to assist. Highly recommended for a smooth, comfortable stay and outstanding value for money.

Hotel is at a great location for food and shopping. A shopaholic will be in heaven. The metro stations are a few minutes walk away though. The train station is a short didi ride away too. Rooms are clean and good sleep quality. Lots of food and convenience store options inside the hotel.
