Tanghu Hotel - Chengdu

If a cheap room for the night is what you want then this will do. But it isn't particularly Western friendly. The breakfast is entirely Chinese style and of limited choice. No western options available. The rooms are tired and worn, although quite large. I was greeted by a call girls card pushed under my door. A bit seedy. The bathroom was adequate with a good shower with hot water and enough water pressure. I was sent here by my company and it served its purpose for one night, but if I was staying by my own choice I would try elsewhere. The cost of the room was 300RMB plus a returnable 200 deposit. Nothing special but adequate is my summary.

Restful beds and soft sheets. Wonderfully large walk-in shower. Quiet hotel. Our stay was during switch over season so the a/c could not be used during unseasonably warm days. Fortunately the windows open. Stay at higher floors to avoid street noise. Great little restaurants around the corner.

For a China three star, it's a clean comfortable hotel. The hotel has no restaurant, so you are on your own to explore the area and find your meals. My room had a ... Unique... Layout. But, it didn't smell musty or like smoke, as most hotels in this price range in China usually do. Pretty much just the basics, in that it was cheap towels, large pump bottles of shampoo and body wash. If you are looking for a place to sleep somewhat close to the airport, this will do nicely.
