Starway Champagne Town

We stayed one night at this hotel, only one night luckily. The hotel is conveniently located, just about 2.5km away from the train station, you can reach all tourist attractions easily, everything is in walking distance. The rooms are rather dark (only one bed light, everything equipped with energy saving light bulbs which didn't provide enough light) and small (we stayed in 1401), the smell indicated that this was a smokers room (couldn't find any ash tray, though). The bed was not bad, the room itself pretty clean. The bathroom was moldy, old and rusty. The floor was already falling off, the shower curtain was showing mold stains and in the morning I was surrounded by little flies - not the standard that I am used to in Chinese hotels in this price category. Good: + location + staff Bad: - dark and smelly room - terrible bathroom - not well maintained hotel - breakfast: you can get better meals on an airplane - room service: food order was disgusting and expensive I wouldn't go there again, even though it was not like "hell". But there are alternatives, and if you have to pay a little bit more: make your stay in Tianjin worth it and do not stay in this hotel, it's just not a good hotel..

Receptionist speak english fluently. Staffs very helpfull and pro-active. In front of the hotel (parking area), there is minivan that can take us to airport with cheaper prices, it's waiting everyday (you can ask to reception about the arrival time). The room is big enough and beautiful and I feel like in four star hotel. We did have breakfast, but it's only a burger, a boiled egg and 1 pax milk. There is one PC with internet and printer at the lounge that we can use, internet work properly. Near the hotel, there is a house that sell delicious chinese food with cheap price. I would like to stay in this hotel again when I visit Tianjin.
