SUPER 8 HOTEL URUMQI YA ZHONG

This hotel is out of the way in an electrical district, which is of very limited tourist interest. The staff do not speak English and are no help regarding tourist spots. Don't get me wrong, they are very sweet and want to be helpful, but they are not set up to cater for English speakers. They do not take Visa and I had to take a cab to the bank to be able to pay. The included breakfast is not available until 8.30 which means no early starts and if you are catching the morning train, tough. Taxis are a bit of a walk away and it took me 20minutes to be able to flag one down. There were just no empty cabs and it was not rush hour. The room itself was probably reasonable for the price and the condoms were a nice touch. Practical I guess. Not a hotel for English tourists. I didn't see a fitness centre and can't alter the one star rating.

If you want to see where generators and other equipment is made in China, stay here wander around the area. You'll see tiny shops where families make it. Free parking, 50 yuan taxi from airport, dull and small lobby but rooms are pleasant---even a bowl for fish!!! 20 yuan taxi to People's Park. Busses go past it. Breakfast buffet is Chinese style--ok but nothing exciting. Water is not drinkable, No water provided aside from minibar. All Chinese channels. No wifi. Computer with slow connection in room. Never could get Google---even HongKong version. Staff has limited English. 200 yuan deposit required. Chaise lounge in room, all window (albeit dirty) wall so it is light. Room was very spacious. Around corner is veg market and shops for haircut, restaurant, ATM.
