Super 8 lodging in the US is often a clean, budget one or two level motel. Traveling in China it was a surprise to find many Super 8 hotels. In Urumqi, the branding is quite evident.. The elevator in the high rise hotel has a large poster listing the goals of Budget 8 franchise. The rooms are basic and small. There is no closet but a coat rack. Outside the street was under construction so it was a little awkward to get around. For a night the hotel was fine.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel during an unexpected extra night in Urumqi. All the hostels were booked up so we paid the extra money and stayed here, and I'm so glad we did! For approx $50 USD, you get essentially a 5 star hotel. Super 8 is FAR classier in China than in the US! This was a great break for us after staying in dusty hostels throughout Xinjiang. Also includes a continental Chinese breakfast. Highly recommended!
