Dali Gurong Hotel

Had a small but comfortable room. Staff very friendly, breakfast great and more on the Chinese side and super convenient to walk to Dali old town. It's a must visit when in Dali and this was our second stop before we headed to Kunming and Shangri-La on our 8 day Yunnan trip.

I was so pleasantly surprised by this hotel; I extended my stay in Dali and returned on my way back from Shaxi. There are not many quiet guest houses in the ancient town. The Gurong hotel probably is the last one with a little bit old town charm. Location wise, it can’t be better, it has a gate links the auto expressway, card can drive in which means no hassle of dragging luggage around. (the gate is not well known for many drivers, have to ask them to drive in). The other entrance links to the ancient town, walking distance to tourist attractions, shops, and restaurants. The hotel has a well-maintained garden with variety of beautiful flowers. The room is spacious, clean and quiet. Despite the feelings of a typical Chinese hotel of grand and empty lobby and strange resultant table arrangement, the hotel service is pretty good. People are friendly and helpful. Always see smiling faces. The Dali ancient town has changed so much in the last two decades, I just hope the Gurong Hotel keeps its current way.

Excellent hotel in the middle of old town Dali. Clean and nice rooms, strong wifi, beautiful flowers in the garden against the snow peaked Cashang. Within walking distance to westerners street, many shops and restaurants nearby, very convenient location.
