Nan Men Lijiang

In the south of the old town. A little bit far from the main (and crowded) areas. Be aware of this: Depending on the room rate you have (I booked on Ctrip) they move you to another hotel, a gloomy little guest house not far away from the hotel site. Double check if the room is in the main hotel location. Choose another hotel (Sanhe or Moon Inn are absolutely better).

The Nanmen hotel features beautiful woodwork and a lovely courtyard. Our room was great but the shower curtains are sketchy. This hotel caters to mostly Chinese visitors and the breakfast reflects that. Good coffee is just down the road. As old Lijiang is totally pedestrian, this hotel features good access to both the airport and train station, if you are willing to cross a few cobblestones. The staff is excellent, but speak little english.
