Jade Emperor Hotel

While close to the West Lake, this is probably its only redeeming feature. The general feel of the hotel is tired. Aircon is universally set too high - in the meeting rooms, public spaces, restaurants and most importantly guest rooms, where any attempt to adjust is totally useless. Were also in the middle of a big reception area refit when there, which made finding the entrance interesting.

this is a quiet, friendly, atmospheric and well appointed hotel in a prefect location for visiting the West Lake and its amenities. It is situated on a pleasant tree-lined road. The architecture and furnishing combine the best of the modern with the best of the traditional. The garden is small but charming.

We booked three uncomfortably small rooms for one night, each more horrible than the other. There were no working thermostats, one room was, believe it or not, 38c. Another room had a bed that smelled of urine. All rooms had tattered and filthy wallpaper. Although we told the desk immediately we did not want to stay we were charged for one room because we sat in the lobby while booking another hotel.
