Jiaxing Leeden Hotel

I stayed in the Leeden hotel for one week in a single room. The room itself was clean with two comfortable beds, a desk at which I could work quite well and a minibar. The bathroom was well cleaned, but the joints have seen better days. The only problem I encountered was the non-functioning air conditioning - it was rather a ventilation because the temperature setting did not have any effect. The breakfast was good with plenty of Chinese food and some toast, fried eggs, jelly and some cake for Western guests. The entrance hall and the overall impression are quite good, but most of the floors are already closed down and don't seem to be used any more. Therefore a lounge that I used a few years ago was not accessible. Next to the hotel are a few good restaurants and a mall, but the mall seems to be run down and most of the shops are already closed down.

I was not expecting much from the hotel given the lower than average price which i paid for their standard room with free breakfast. Booked this hotel last minute from mobile after reading other TA reviews & solely on basis of its location & I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED ON THAT SCORE as just abehind the hotel are KFC, McDonalds, Dairy Queen, Star bucks & Wal Mart all within 2 minutes walking, as well as a nice Chinese restaurant " Grand Ma's " where we eventually had our dinner. The hotel does not look anything extraordinary from outside or inside and is housed in a mostly vacant building on the middle floors with just the reception on the ground floor. The room was reasonable size with all standard features along with a bathroom with a shower( no tub)- all average but nothing overly disappointing. The only con i could find with the rooms as well as the bathroom was the lighting which could be better & that the shower area had a glass wall to the bedroom & the blinds on this were fixed from the bedroom side which was a bit awkward for me as i was sharing the room with my son. As usual, language is a problem as i ran out of drinking water late in the night and tried to get a few bottles from room service who could not understand english & ultimately i had to go to the reception to get the water. Breakfast was average, but i was happy as there was a cappuccino machine which turned out reasonable coffee which along with some fruits, eggs & bread etc does the trick for me.

I had a great stay at the Leeden. I booked a business suite , which was huge with a great hot tub. A very convenient location to Pazhou . its a 5 minute walk to a metro if you want to get around guangzhou. Service was great and I could not fault it. Would be a 5 star, if they put in a steam room and a cappuccino machine. I checked in at 6am and there was no problem going straight to my room. That was so welcome after a long flight. I would definitely stay again.
