Golden Port Hotel

The plus point is it's strategic location - right across Laowaitan where there are alot of bars and pubs. Some other local chinese eateries nearby the hotel as well. However, my non-smoking room was tainted with cigarette smell and it annoyed me throughout my stay. The switches at bedside for the lights are broken. Room lights are such a way that it is very dim, not suitable for business purpose. I didn't felt comfortable too as the bed was squeeky even at the slightest movement. Bathroom was functional and it was nice they provided some basic amenities. Corridor was very very dim and dark as well. Breakfast had a wide spread, but the choices didn't differ much across days. Cannot withstand the cigarette smell across the whole building, despite its good location...

I was in the Golden Port Ningbo for 5 nights for business. We got it as a recommended hotel from our agency. Well I am not be thanking them soon. The hotel must have been a great experience 20 years ago, but lack of maintenance has shown its marks. Old walls, carpets, damaged and not repaired amenities. The location however is pretty cool, you are 1 minute away from all the bars and restaurants, so if that is the priority and you dont mind a "worn" hotel, go for it. Otherwise look further as for the same price you might something better and well managed. Oh and....out of the 8 employees I talked to 1 spoke english, thats can be a problem....

Location is perfect, go outside hotel - there is huge bbq restaurant with delicious food, go right and there is the bars district. Room is very nice and clean, but everything is a bit old. Managed to score a good deal with Agoda. They accept foreigners, which is very important!
