Me and my wife stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during our trip around Colombia in March 2026. This small hotel is situated in one of the “good” neighborhoods of Medellín and as such it is a good option while visiting the city, as it isn’t very far from the city center. Far enough to be a quiet one though. The staff was always helpful. Breakfast was basic but good. We got a small but functional room, good enough to work as a base to explore Medellín.

A sad and extremely noisy hotel
It is certainly located in a residential area but in the middle of nowhere which forces to take taxis all the time
Rooms that would need a big rejuvenation
Breakfast tablecloths stained
A day receptionist who is not very "awake"
We are happy to leave!

Ants in the room, loud. The main claim is that they raise the price for tourists illegally and ignore the legal requirements not to charge and refund the wrongly withheld VAT.
When paying for accommodation services I was improperly charged VAT, even though I presented my passport with entry stamp and extension of stay in force as a foreign tourist, confirming that I am in the country for less than 180 days and do not intend to stay any longer.
I asked the hotel to indicate the regulations justifying the collection and refund of the illegally withheld tax, but my requests were ignored. Subsequently, I confirmed that, according to article 481 (d) of the Tax Statute, as amended by Law 1607 of 2012, and article 1, paragraph 1, of Decree 297 of 2016, accommodation services to foreign tourists not resident in Colombia are exempt from VAT. In addition, Resolution 2061 of 2020 of Migration Colombia allows for tourism extensions of up to 90 additional days, maintaining tourist status. Article 10 of the Tax Statute reinforces that only those who stay more than 183 days in Colombia are considered tax residents.
Recommendation to other tourists: if you are charged VAT unduly for accommodation in Colombia being a foreign tourist and you are in Colombia minus 180 days, you can demand the refund of the tax and file a complaint through the official channels:
Directorate of National Revenue and Customs: https://pqrsportal.dian.gov.co/pqrs
Superintendency of Industry and Commerce: https://denuncias.sic.gov.co/consumer/consumer /pasoo
Instead of refunding VAT, hotel representatives continue to lie that I was in the country for more than 183 days and was an illegal immigrant, which is not true.
