Vesuvio Hotel

The hotel was very nice. We had a larger room, and everything was fine. Wifi worked well. The $40 deposit for the TV remote was strange, though. Anyone who would steal a TV remote would steal the TV, which wasn't bolted down!

This was probably the worst hotel I stayed in during a six country trip through Central America. I was in room 218 where there was a ceiling fan but no air con. In the tiny bathroom you had to almost climb over the toilet to get to the shower and you could sit on the toilet and clean your teeth at the same time and there was nowhere to put anything in the bathroom. The water pipes for the whole hotel ran along the ceiling of this room and when ever anyone turned on a tap in the hotel it made a terrible noise. When I complained to the manager he just shrugged his shoulders. I eventually changed rooms with our tour leader and went to room 215. The water in the shower here had sudden bursts of hot and cold and was quite dangerous. Once again there was nowhere to put anything in the bathroom. There were no power points in the room so you could not charge your phone etc and the internet was very patchy anyway. There was a central light fitting containing three globes, but only one globe was functioning so it was impossible to read in the room. There was a safe, but no key or instructions on how to use it. The walls of both rooms were paper thin and you could clearly hear your neighbours. Both rooms were upstairs and even when I had located the light over the stairs it was only one naked globe and very dark at night. When we checked in we were given a remote control for the TV and told we would be fined if we didn't return it. I returned it immediately and said I was not interested in watching Spanish TV. The very basic breakfast was served in a garage next to the hotel. Getting there if it rained would be interesting. The only good thing about this hotel was that it was within walking distance of the excellent Cafe Mundo.

stayed here for two nights staff very friendly and helpful, nothing special about the hotel, breakfast is ok, location is near to town, we ate in the restaurant one evening and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, the meal was freshly cooked so was very nice.
