Club Amigo Mayanabo Hotel

I am in this hotel for work reasons I am from Colombia, it has a staff that makes us feel good, like home, mainly in the reception areas, in the rooms and in the restaurant.Very clean and with small but comfortable rooms

Really run down. Front desk staff so very unfriendly. Rooms not great for sure. Food substandard. Oh, but you do get food poisoning and loose 4 days of your vacation at no extra cost. No help or apology from the hotel management or the travel agency. The female doctor was fabulous, professional, and so caring. The entire complex needs a complete over haul and updates every where. Adios to this place for sure.

Positives: Mayanabo continues to make improvements. When I think back to our first visit in 1995 to now, it is leaps and bounds better. The staff are friendly as always, they do a great job. From the front desk to housekeeping, dining room, bar, coffee bar, beach restaurant and bar, beach staff and of course animation. The gardens are well tended and the grounds spic and span. Hats off to the ground keeping crew. If there is an issue with your room, maintenance will gladly try to help. Let's not forget Angela the masseuse, many of our friends can't wait to book a relaxing massage with her. The beach is still a beautiful place where you can walk from resort to resort and further. Sometimes the tractor hasn't been out to clean up the washed up seaweed but it gets done. The coffee bar is a favourite place of many to relax or have a light lunch or snack. They work hard too and always a smile. The cappuccinos are good. You can have a liqueur in it and they also arrive with cinnamon or chocolate to sprinkle on top. The churro bar is close by as well. Our room was comfy and clean and the AC worked good. Management is great. Negative: We were aware when we booked about the long trip from Holguin to Playa Santa Lucia. The flights were not going into Camaguey which is about a 90 min drive by bus. From Holguin it is approx 3.5 hours with a stop in Las Tunas for a potty break and you can buy a drink there. The road is paved for part of it but there is a also a rather long stretch that is dirt and full of huge potholes. Either way you do get there and we were aware. Hopefully the flights to Camaguey will resume at some point. By the way we flew out of Toronto. We look forward to going back, Mayanabo is our cottage, a place of relaxation and friends where you don't have to do anything or you can keep busy with all the things available to you. We have introduced many people to Mayanabo over the years and they too are regulars now !!! We will keep bringing people to Mayanabo. See you again soon Hopefully :)
