Cyprus Villages

We stayed a week in early April in an apartment in the house Myrto. A great traditional stone house with modern bathroom, kitchen and private pool. The apartment includes the daily, very varied breakfast in the Tochni Tavern. We recommend staying with a rental car and then have fun in Cyprus. We will come back.

My sister and I spent seven nights at Myrto (also Mirto) No. 2 and enjoyed our time at the Cyprus Village in Tochni. The accommodation is characterized by a typical Cypriot flair, the courtyard with the many flowering plants and the small pool looks cozy and lovingly designed. The accommodation is not comparable to classic hotel rooms – which we personally found very pleasant. The rooms are rather dark, and a kitchen table with chairs is missing. Thanks to the nice weather, however, we were often able to open the doors and let in a lot of light. We either ate outside or we put the balcony furniture in the room for dinner. Our apartment was about ten minutes walk (note: the path is not barrier-free) from the main tavern with pool. Breakfast and dinner are served there. Breakfast was a daily highlight for us: a delicious buffet, which was constantly replenished and offered small variations every day. Even the dinner we can recommend, especially the meze, which was really delicious. The whole complex is very nicely located. The restaurant is bright, lovingly decorated and offers a wonderful view of the flowering plants and the idyllic village of Tochni during the day. In the evening, numerous fairy lights create an atmospheric atmosphere. The staff was friendly and accommodating throughout. In the apartment the towels were changed every two days, the beds were made and the surfaces were cleaned. For the stay we strongly recommend a rental car, as public transport in Cyprus is not very developed and otherwise you have difficulty exploring the island. Tochni is a quiet place, ideal for relaxing, and the “Village” convinces with a lot of charm and warmth. We felt very comfortable and recommend the stay.

We spent 4 nights in Mirto 1. A picturesque cottage, with a shared pool with sunbeds. Very nice bed, very good mattress. Kitchen unit is sufficient, there is not much present and cooking would have been difficult. There is actually no room or your suitcase or bag to put down. We have ‘lived’ out of the suitcase by putting it right on an elevation. The bathroom has a sink where there is no mirror, a toilet and a shower. The mirror hangs above a kind of block where we had put coats. There was no hot water. When we made a comment about that, the owner explained in which position we had to put the crane. But still no hot water. I left him a voicemail but I didn't get back to him. The next day he asked if the water was hot and went to see for himself while we were eating. He then said that he had turned up the temperature of the water a bit because of the upcoming autumn. We were offered wine, a cocktail and dessert because he was so upset. We really appreciated that. That night later the water was nice and warm but not the next day. We left it that way, the weather was good so showering with unheated water was only a bit through. Breakfast and dinner at Tochni tavern, a 10-minute walk from Mirto. Climbing but that was not a problem for us. The food is very good, spacious menu, good quality and excellent service, both at breakfast and dinner.
