Hotel el Magnifico

The buildings with interesting architecture are set in beautifully landscaped grounds. It is quiet and feels serene. We only stayed for 1 night and asked for a room on the highest floor. As an older couple we made it up on the small spiral staircase to the 3rd floor (2nd for Europeans). The view over the ocean was rewarding, but the cemetery on the side of the building looked a bit neglected. The small room was functional and although clean we found that the toilette was leaking. It would not have suited us for a longer stay. The reception closes at 4:00 pm. After that you have to turn to the security guards in case of an emergency. It wasn't an emergency when we returned to the room after dark and found we couldn't get the TV working. There was no way to climb down the stairs and look in the grounds for someone to help with the problem. The staff was helpful and friendly whilst they were there. Therefore we had to do without TV. The hotel has no bar or restaurant but a super market nearby takes care of any needs. We had visualised that we would be able to swim outside the hotel but there are only rocks and strong currents. It is not far though to walk to Cabarete Beach with all amenities. We would consider a longer stay in a better, bigger room.

Tremendous location, safe, helpful and friendly staff, beach front, pool and jacuzzi, the rooms are beautiful, quiet, great view and well appointed. Near bars, clubs and restaurants. Plenty of outdoors activities, like kite surfing. I've stayed at this location twice. I'll return.
