Our stay at the Alf Leila Wa Leila by Pickalbatros in Hurghada was once again wonderful overall. The hotel grounds are very well-maintained, the food is varied and delicious, and the staff in the restaurants, at the bars, and in service are always friendly and eager to help. You can tell that a lot of importance is placed on enabling guests to have a wonderful vacation here.
However, the animation team led by Mokka deserves special praise. You rarely experience such dedicated, warm, and professional staff. The daily entertainment is varied and incredibly fun for both adults and children. But Mokka and his team do far more than just animation. They practically take on the tasks of guest relations, always have an open ear, listen, take care of problems, and always try to find a solution. You can feel that the well-being of the guests is truly close to their hearts.
The mini disco is an absolute highlight for families. The many costumed characters, in particular, make the children beam every evening. Unfortunately, at the beginning of our vacation, we had to realize that these figures were initially not available at all this year. Only through the tireless efforts of Mokka and his great animation team could they be organized again. The mere fact of how much time and commitment they invested in this shows how important the wishes of the guests – especially the children – are to them. Without their efforts, many children would have had to go without this special experience. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this.
Unfortunately, there are also some points this year that have disappointed us – and many other German guests – very much.
Precisely because we were so enthusiastic last year, we booked our vacation at the Alf Leila Wa Leila again. Many of the loving little details that made the vacation so special back then have, however, been completely dropped.
Unfortunately, there is no more cotton candy. The popular milkshakes have also disappeared. We also miss the watermelon as a snack, as well as the iced coffee with ice cream and the iced chocolate with ice cream. These little extras in particular brought great joy to the children and adults every day. It is precisely because of these special offerings that we decided to book this hotel again. It is all the more sad now to have to look into many disappointed children's faces.
Unfortunately, we are hearing this disappointment not only from ourselves, but also from many other German guests. It is repeatedly discussed that people are therefore seriously considering booking a different hotel next year. That would be a real shame, because we actually love this hotel.
We would like to express another big compliment to Olya. Although she is the Russian guest relations manager, she takes care of all guests with an incredible amount of heart – including us Germans. She is always present, approachable at any time, asks daily how you are doing, listens attentively, and tries to help immediately with every request. With her friendly manner, she always manages to put a smile on the guests' faces. For us, she is an absolute asset and a role model for how guest relations should be.
Unfortunately, we cannot say the same about the German guest relations team. During our stay, she was barely present. Instead of looking for solutions or opportunities for improvement together, we had the impression that other hotels were being recommended to us. In our view, however, that is exactly what guest relations is not there for. We would have wished for significantly more commitment, presence, and genuine interest in the guests' concerns.
In conclusion, we would like to highlight Mokka in particular. For us, he is by far the best employee in the entire hotel. He lives his profession with a passion that one rarely experiences. He takes care of every guest, takes time for conversations, listens attentively, and never gives up until he has found a solution. For many guests, he has long been much more than just the head of the animation team – he is a contact person, a problem solver, and someone who makes the vacation special for everyone. Employees like Mokka are invaluable and one of the most important reasons why we enjoy visiting this hotel again and again.
We very much hope that the hotel management takes the guests' criticism seriously and reintroduces the discontinued offerings such as cotton candy, milkshakes, watermelon, as well as iced coffee and iced chocolate with ice cream. With these small changes, the Alf Leila Wa Leila could once again become the extraordinary family hotel that we got to know last year and grew so fond of.
