The Breakers Soma Bay

General information about the hotel: The hotel is pleasantly large. Should there be more guests here, everything spreads out, which we found very pleasant. However, the occupancy rate at the end of June was about 60%. Our room was always clean and everything worked - that is not always the case in Egypt. We are of the opinion that the mosquito screen to the terrace is installed incorrectly. The handle for opening it is on the outside. When the screen is closed, you can hardly open it from the inside. The pool was a bit colder, but perfect for cooling off. It was always clean. The loungers by the pool are comfortable. There are shaded areas, but you may have to move, as the sun moves. Additionally, there are many different and free lounge and seating areas on the beach. The path from the hotel to the snorkeling area is a bit of a walk. Approx. 5 min along the jetty. The beach is not really suitable for swimming in the sea. We had a full moon and therefore strong ebb and flow. A very big plus: There is free water in the hotel. For this, there are three stations for refilling (dining room, bar, and beach bar). At check-in, you would receive a free reusable bottle if you do not have your own with you. In addition, you receive one towel per person, which you can exchange again and again. There are two hot tubs on the roof, a gym (indoor and outdoor), a pool table, foosball, massages, and much more. Of course, there is also free Wi-Fi. The speed is sufficient. We found that the hotel is well-suited for solo travelers. There are special so-called solo traveler meetups to get in touch if needed. According to the manager, approx. 50% of the guests in the hotel are divers. Here, too, you can already look out for a buddy at the solo traveler meetup. The food: The breakfast is very rich and extensive. Rolls, bread, croissants, and much more. Omelets, for which you can choose the ingredients yourself. Sausage, cheese, fruit. Everyone will simply find something here. Negative: the coffee - it is incredibly bad. Anyone who really wants good and inexpensive coffee, Pepsi, or smoothies should check out the "Jetty Hub." It is located to the south, right next to the hotel. At dinner, there is a buffet, and every evening has a different theme. You can always find something here, too. Pasta (Bolognese, tomato sauce, cheese sauce), meat (chicken, beef, and/or lamb), fish, and plenty of vegetables and a great deal for vegetarians. Many desserts (cake, fruit, pudding) and again, free water. However, the prices for drinks are really steep. A Pepsi costs roughly €3.30, which is really a lot by Egyptian standards. There are smaller tables if you want to be alone, or larger ones if you are looking to socialize. We always sat with others during meals and can say that we met some very nice people. And it is totally crazy how many guests are "repeat guests." Bottom line, it is a great resort. If we ever come back to Egypt, it is quite possible that we will book at the Breakers again.

We were there again and it is always great. The warmth of the staff, the "Welcome Home." It is just fun. The food, the selection, and freshness are mega good. I still think it is great that you get the food served at certain stations. Thank you for having Eggs Benedict regularly now. 😊 The only thing I miss at breakfast is freshly squeezed orange juice; it is available far too rarely. It would be great if that would come back. Our room requests were taken into account. Really great! Other requests, such as a mattress topper, were also fulfilled. The sunrise event and the sundowner tours are also great. An absolute plus for us as divers is the direct location at the Orca dive center. That was definitely not our last visit. 😊

Sustainable hotel, drinking water available all day in metal bottles for free. Warm-hearted staff and very clean.
