We booked the Scandic Rauma for one night, knowing that despite the hot weather, there would not be AC available. Upon arrival, the receptionist reminded us of this but promised to look for a room on the shady side of the building. We felt very welcome, especially traveling with a pet who was greeted with a special welcome pack. Thanks to the kind and "can-do" service, it was a great start to our stay. The hotel has plenty of parking available, including a few spots for EV charging. However, parking payments and charging both require an app. It is a good idea to arrive early, as the spaces filled up completely. The hotel itself is conveniently located within walking distance of the "Vanha Rauma" historical center, and overall, it felt like a good choice despite the warm room. Upon departure, we were told that improvements are in sight. As a frequent traveler, it is always a pleasure to see the personnel trying their best, even in challenging situations where they have limited options to change the circumstances. Points to them for trying! Most likely, this place is a perfectly fine choice for nine months out of the year.

The location is convenient for exploring Rauma on foot as the old town is just a few easy blocks away. Parking is free and easy at the property. The beds are great and breakfast of the standard high Scandic quality. Sadly there is no air conditioning in any of the rooms. A fan is provided and a small window with an insect mesh can be left open to get some air flow from the outside. This is barely adequate. As a result I would be happy staying here during the winter, but not the summer. Our one night was hot, but bearable.
