Alan Robert's Hotel

Despite the polite welcome on arrival, this is a terrible hotel. It is advertised as "non-smoking" however the bedroom (#43) smelt of stale cigarette smoke so I had to keep the balcony door open whenever I was in the room. The room was very small, the en-suite bathroom had a tiny shower with barely enough room to move, there were patches of black mould along the grouting. The curtains in the room were transparent so didn't block any light (no shutters either). Positive comments - the laminate "wooden" floor and bed linen were clean. When I was asked to make honest comments on the website through which this hotel was booked I received the following feedback from the hotel: "If you have any life-problems, deal that with yourself!!! And put your name under your fake comment!! Adios!!" This is a sad and pathetic response and clearly reflects how the hotel deals with customer feedback.

Took the TGV down from Paris to Nice for the Euros and to our pleasant surprise discovered en-route that the train stopped at Cannes both on the way to Nice and the way back. What's more when we got out of the station we looked across the road and there was the hotel! Slightly weird entrance next to the boulangerie and up some stairs but pleasant enough welcome and decent sized room with good TV, Wifi, shower and air conditioning. We were on the 3rd floor & there is a small (3 man) lift from the 1st floor. Slightly dated and pretty basic accommodation (sheet & a throw) but decent nights sleep for boys on tour. Suggest you skip the in-house breakfast and go downstairs to the cafe with great orange juice/coffee & croissants for 6 euros

After several nights of bunking in dorm rooms, my stay at a single room at Alan Robert’s Hotel was a well- deserved treat. The hotel’s location is unbeatable – it’s just a 2- minute walk from the Cannes train station and about 8 minutes to La Croisette. The room I stayed in looked a bit cramped and dated but was sensibly equipped with the basics (wardrobe, a small table, TV, blankets, towels, toothbrushes etc.). Wifi was pretty strong too. They have a 24-hour reception manned by friendly and helpful staff. And next to the hotel is a quaint patisserie called Le Palais des Pains with amazing quiches and pastries!
