Cannes Gallia Hotel

An extremely disappointing experience – My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Le Galia in Cannes last night, and unfortunately, our experience was very mediocre from start to finish. Upon our arrival, communication with the front desk staff was complicated, particularly due to difficulties communicating properly in French. A few minutes after our arrival, we also witnessed an argument between staff members in front of us. This is really not the professional image one expects from a hotel. Regarding the €200 deposit, I perfectly understand the principle of a deposit, but when it represents a sum higher than the price of the night, it still seems quite disproportionate. We then discovered our room, 201, and there, a big disappointment. The cleanliness was clearly insufficient: dust on the furniture, a hair in the sink, towels that seemed dirty. When opening one of them, I found a long hair on it. The toilet seat was not properly cleaned either. The shower was leaking while I was washing, to the point of getting water all over the floor. The refrigerator, for its part, was filled with water and therefore practically unusable. At €157 a night, I find this quality of service totally unjustifiable, especially for an establishment claiming three stars. Honestly, I do not understand how this hotel can claim this level of quality given our experience. Another big problem: the soundproofing. We had a very bad night because of the noises coming from the other rooms and the common areas: neighbors talking loudly, going up and down, music, various noises... It was very difficult to sleep properly. In the end, between the reception, the cleanliness, the condition of the room, the defective equipment, and the soundproofing, the quality of service is very far from what I expected for €157 a night. I am really very disappointed. I had chosen to take a hotel rather than an Airbnb for a change, but I clearly regret my choice. I will not set foot in this establishment again. I am also very surprised to see a rating of 4.1/5 on TripAdvisor, because our experience was extremely far from that. Perhaps we just had bad luck, but for us, the experience was frankly deplorable.

This was, without any doubt, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. I booked a 3-night stay, but from the moment I arrived it became clear that the hotel had serious issues with both its facilities and customer service. The shower gel dispensers in both the bathroom sink and shower were empty. My room was on the ground floor, where there was constant noise from the lobby and outside until around 3:00 a.m., making it almost impossible to sleep. The most serious issue was that the balcony door was broken and could not be properly closed. Since the room was on the ground floor with direct access to the garden next to the lobby, anyone could potentially access the room during the night. This was a major security concern. The air conditioning was also defective. It either failed to cool the room or suddenly became extremely cold with no proper temperature control, making it very uncomfortable. After a sleepless night caused by the broken balcony door, excessive noise, and faulty air conditioning, I reported these issues to the hotel. Unfortunately, nobody responded until I personally went to the reception. Instead of apologizing or offering a reasonable solution, the staff became confrontational and raised their voices at me. Their attitude was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. As a result, I had no choice but to leave the hotel early and book another hotel at my own expense. Despite the obvious problems and the fact that I did not use the remaining two nights of my reservation, the hotel refused to refund the unused nights or make any effort to resolve the situation. Overall, this hotel offers no value for money. Poor facilities, serious security concerns, lack of cleanliness, excessive noise, and extremely poor customer service made this an experience I would never want to repeat.

Hotel Cannes Gallia in June 2026 was a shockingly bad hotel experience. Across the rooms booked at this hotel for our trip to Cannes, our problems ranged from: poor communications pre trip; being told just before we arrived that all our rooms had been cancelled (they had not); a snapped toilet seat in one of the rooms; a shower covered in bugs in another; being shown in a room that had not been cleaned from the previous guest; broken air con unit which then leaked onto a suitcase below; no hot water; and finally, a fridge in one of the rooms which on opening, was covered in mould and contained a previous guest's food. The hotel has not offered any compensation. I'd hate for future guests to get such an awful experience.
