Hotel Neptune

My boyfriend and I have been Interrailing through Europe since July. The last few days of our trip we wanted to spend relaxing, lying on a beach in Cannes. We had been camping through Europe which is a much cheaper option but unfortunately arrived in Cannes too late in the evening to book a campsite - most of which were closed or full. Most hotels our extortionately expensive in Cannes so we really were worried as we were on a real budget. Luckily, we came across hotel Neptune on booking.com and saw that there was a single room available for 39 euros a night. My boyfriend called up the hotel and requested whether we could share the single room as were on a budget and the hotel had no problem with it at all. This really was a blessing for us as we had asked hotels if we could do this before and only 1 other in about 50 have let us do this!! The hotel room was just what we wanted - a nice bed, shower with perfectly working air con and wifi. The floors above where a bit loud but this didn't really bother us. We woke the next day to a thunderstorm - not exactly what we wanted for our beach day. We checked the weather forecast and it was supposed to rain all day where as in Lyon, where we had to be 2 nights later to get out flight from Lyon Airport, it was 30 degree sunshine. We asked the employee whether we could get our second night refunded so we could just head to Lyon that day so we could have a few days of sunshine. The employee again, had no problem with it at all. We thought this especially kind as it was already midday, past check out time and it was very rare that hotels ever offered refunds. So, all in all, the only good thing about our stay in Cannes was the service in the hotel. Perfect stay for budget travelers who change their planes often and last minute.

My company booked this hotel for a business trip and after reading the online reviews I was dreading staying there! I must say, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Sure, the place smells of damp (the top floor seemed ok). The rooms are tired and need redecorating. On the plus side, the bed was okay, the sheets were very clean and the internet, TV and air con all worked. The cleaner came every day and did a good job. If you want a cheap hotel and essentially just a place to sleep then I guess it's ok.

Trip advices lists: 1 - the room facing on the street where I have stayed, is noisy. Down the street there is a traffic light, and you can hear every single vehicle passing by 2- the room was quite clean and smell was ok 3 - parkings are not owned by the hotel, but they are public. You can find some close to the hotel. 4- reception is not always available or open. We asked for a working tv remote control, but we were not listened. 5- the beaches are 4 minute drive, very nice, sandy and with bars everywhere. downtown is 8 minutes. 6- breakfast is not included. It is 6€ even if in the room there is a tag with "breakfast 5€" written on it 7- personally, an hotel like this one should be 20% cheaper
